A bunk bed does not have to be boring!

It is in the room that the child spends most of his day, so he should be thoughtful and adapted to his age and needs. However, it is worth going a step further and creating a dream place in the child's room where he will be able to play endlessly, fantasize and collect the most beautiful memories. You do not have to clutter up the space of the room or buy special equipment - an ordinary, bunk bed of your child is enough to make it a dream-like place.

Bunk and mezzanine beds offer endless possibilities of arrangement, limited only by the child's dreams and your creativity. What is more, most ideas do not require very invasive actions, so the decoration will be easy to remove when the craze for it is over.

If you lack an idea, plan, or inspiration - here they are. Here are some practical, proven, and inexpensive ways to diversify the seemingly ordinary bunk bed and turn it into your child's favourite place.

Princess kingdom

You can fight it, but in total it is a battle doomed to failure - little girls have been loving everything pink, shiny, and fluffy for years. The easiest way to make your dreams of being a princess come true is to buy a candy-coloured bunk bed (or paint the one that already exists) and match it with an equally sweet pink ceiling-mounted canopy. After all, it is an element of decor that once adorned the truest royal chambers! Today, in a slightly modernized version, it is still a perfect asylum where you can hide and move into a fairy-tale world. The canopy can be successfully made by yourself from pieces of fabric and a bar, or you can buy a hula hoop. Its magical character is perfectly emphasized by ordinary Christmas tree lamps or cotton ballsy twisted around one of the railings of a bunk bed. The subtle and delicate light of the lamps will create the perfect atmosphere to calm down before going to sleep, it is enough to read a pillow fairy tale and disperses the darkness, making it easier for night trips to the toilet or parents' bed. Another idea for a princess castle is to buy or sew a curtain with windows and doors, mounted in such a way that it covers the bottom floor of the bed or the space under the mezzanine.

Tree house

Who among us in childhood did not dream of a vacation spent in a treehouse? The very fact of playing at heights, away from the eyes of parents, promised great fun and memories for years. And while the treehouse is only available to the lucky few, creating a bunk bed substitute is basically just around the corner. The house bed is a proposal for wooden models on a mezzanine or bunk. All you need to create such a structure is 5 boards, a few screws and wood glue. The roof built in this way can be freely decorated with blankets, fabrics or a piece of wood imitating a chimney. You can also go a step further and use a bunk bed as the basis for creating a real small house. This is an option for gifted DIY enthusiasts, but the effect is amazing!

A bunk bed as a playground

This proposal will be appreciated not only by parents of inexhaustible energy rascals. The mini playground will be useful especially in the autumn and winter period, when spending all days outside is not possible, but not only. Being in constant motion is basically inherent in kids, and the playground on a bunk bed, apart from the creative use of excess energy, helps in practicing coordination of physical fitness. Converting a bunk bed into a home playground is not as difficult as you might think. The basis can be the most ordinary plastic slide available in any DIY store. In addition, it is a great alternative to simply going down the ladder and will surely convince many a sleeper to get up faster. With the help of a few boards attached to the shorter side of the bed and handles, you can easily build a climbing wall that will be a hit for many months.

On the Internet you can find thousands of inspirations and implementations that show how you can transform an apparently boring bunk bed. We have selected a few of those that require little effort and money. However, if you dream of something spectacular and unique, do not hesitate and do it - childhood passes far too quickly!
