FSC certificate

FSC is a certificate awarded to woody forest products, such as furniture, paper, floor coverings, windows, doors, musical instruments and treeless products of forest origin, such as maple syrup, rubber or Brazil nuts. The scope of the certificate covers only the first stage of the production chain - obtaining the raw material. Over 148 million ha of forests in the world (about 5 times as much as the area of ​​Poland) is currently certified in accordance with FSC standards and as many as 21 thousand. wood and paper companies have this certificate (as of November 2011).

 

FSC was created in 1994 by an international organization that gathers social organizations and representing the rights of indigenous peoples, environmental organizations, forest certification organizations, forest owners and managers, wood and paper processing companies, retail chains and private individuals interested in responsible forest management. At the international level, FSC currently includes such organizations as: Greenpeace, WWF, Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth.
